Overview

You can select whether you want to delete a document in the menu bar.

Important difference: Remove vs. delete

Attention! There is an important difference between these two actions:

Removing a document from a collection

When you remove a document from a collection:

  • Delete only the link between the file and this collection

  • The file will no longer be displayed in this collection

  • The file itself remains in SV Documents DMS

  • You can still access the file via all other links

Delete document

If you delete a document:

  • Remove the document completely from SV Documents DMS

  • All links to other collections are lost

  • The document can no longer be retrieved

Authorisations: Who can delete documents?

By default, only owners can delete documents.

How to delete a document

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Select the desired document

  2. Select the recycle bin icon above the preview

Note: You can also select and delete several documents at the same time.

What happens after deletion?

The recycle bin

The deleted document is automatically moved to the owner's recycle bin.

  • By default, you can restore it from there within 14 days

  • An administrator can configure this period individually in the account settings

  • Once the deadline has expired, the document is automatically deleted permanently

Immediate undo function

A blue bar appears immediately after deletion.

  • You can use this bar to undo the deletion for 30 seconds

  • Use this function if you have deleted by mistake
