Locking and unlocking files

Important note

If you lock a file, only you can rename this file or update it with a new version. Other users do not have access to these functions as long as the lock is active.


How to lock a file

There are two ways to lock a file:

Method 1: Via the lock icon

  1. Select the desired file

  2. Click on the lock symbol

Method 2: Via the context menu

  1. Right-click on the file

  2. Click on "Lock" in the menu


Recognising locked files

You can recognise a locked file by a closed lock symbol.


Authorisations at a glance

These users can lock files:

  • Administrators

  • Internal users

  • External users

These users can unlock files:

  • Administrators

  • The owner of the file

  • The user who set the lock


How to unlock a file

Unlocking works in the same way as locking:

  • Method 1: Select the file and click on the lock icon

  • Method 2: Right-click on the file → select "Unlock"
